The SL-20XP battery is a nickel-cadmium, 6 Volt, 1.8 amp hour, sub-C that is rechargeable up to 1,000 times. It provides run time ranges of up to 1 1/2 hours between charges. The lens is unbreakable polycarbonate, and the reliable on/off/blink switch is self-cleaning.
