Kent-Moore J-37808 S.I.R. Column Load Tool
The Kent-Moore J-37808 S.I.R. Column Load Tool is used to simulate the electrical characteristics of the supplemental Inflatable Restraint System (S.I.R.). This tool is designed to help technicians diagnose and repair S.I.R. systems.
The J-37808 is composed of three main components: a circuit for the inflator simulation, a circuit for column simulation, and a connector body for opening the shorting bar at the diagnostic energy reserve module (DERM). The inflator simulation circuit provides a voltage source to the inflator squib, simulating the activation of the inflator. The column simulation circuit provides a voltage source to the column squib, simulating the activation of the column. The connector body is used to mate the SIR connectors at the steering wheel and the base of the column.
The J-37808 is equipped with connectors to mate the SIR connectors at the steering wheel and the base of the column. This allows the technician to easily connect the tool to the vehicle's S.I.R. system.
The J-37808 is packaged in a plastic storage case with an internal face panel which identifies each component. This makes it easy for the technician to store and organize the tool.
